137. Welton Walnut
If you think walnuts are small, short lived trees, a Lincolnshire giant will soon make you think again.
An enormous arboreal landmark can be seen in the centre of Welton, a picturesque village six miles north of Lincoln. On the grassy expanse in front of The Park, a development of low-rise housing, the enormous Welton Walnut has been in residence for many years. From a low bole, massive limbs arch upwards, while below the surface, its roots may stretch to the clear waters of nearby Welton Beck.
