Exciting news! I will be live on BBC Breakfast tomorrow morning, Monday 27th May.
Tune in at 7:45AM to catch me talking trees on the sofa at Salford Quays, just a 40 minute hike, across some very busy roads, from today’s magnificent tree.
L. S. Lowry was enrolled in evening courses at the Salford Technical Institute overlooking Peel Park, the subject of many of his lesser-known paintings and drawings. It is home to several trees dating from the park’s opening that he certainly would have known. The most eye-catching is a poplar just south of the Brotherton statue, which you might be able to glimpse in Lowry’s 1944 painting ‘Peel Park’.
