157. Keith Chestnut
A traveller’s landmark enlivens a Moray town.
The A96 is enlivened at Keith by a very fine horse chestnut that marks the town’s commercial centre. Your eye will be drawn to its copious canopy, an interesting green bulb offering a visual respite on the otherwise uniformly straight road. It even shades its own mini-piazza on the corner of Bridge Street.

See you in Dufftown?
This Thursday evening, 24th July, I’ll be in conversation at the lovely Beinn Coffee & Books in Dufftown, Scotland’s whisky capital, and just a conker’s throw from this tree. Beinn is a new bookshop, it opened at the beginning of June, and I am very honoured to be their first author event! I am very much looking forward to it.
