161. Cobham Colossus
A giant redwood is a churchyard beacon in a picturesque Surrey village.
Cobham is a delightful Surrey village nestled in the Mole valley with many historic buildings. Among them, grade 1 listed St Andrew’s church is surrounded by a large churchyard which is home to a giant redwood that towers over all, but it is just one of many fine trees that grow in its shadow including a rare western catalpa and a delightful Judas tree.

Cobham Tree Tour
I will be leading a tour of Cobham’s trees on 13th September which will include the Cobham Colossus, but there are other trees to see beyond the churchyard including a fine veteran oak, a cedar of Lebanon with literary connections as well as representatives of species originating from across the world.
Places are limited so book now to avoid disappointment. The tour starts at Garden Design Collective and ends at the Cobham Bookshop where I will be signing copies of my book, Tree Hunting.
