56. Sessions House Sycamore
A splendid old sycamore, Yorkshire’s largest, complements the East Riding’s finest town.
Yorkshire's largest sycamore is a prodigious tree. It appears to have been growing here outside the former Sessions House in Beverley at least since it was built in 1814 and maybe longer. During that time, it must have been a lone specimen tree, its branches allowed free rein to extend horizontally. Now it is a great dome, with some branches propped, and others almost reaching New Walk's grass verge.
