67. Wilberforce Mulberry
There’s a timeless quality to the fine-looking mulberry tree growing in an historic setting in Hull’s old town.
Kingston-upon-Hull's Old High Street, once its commercial centre, runs parallel to the River Hull and is lined with several historic buildings. Among them is Wilberforce House, birthplace of famous Hullensian and abolitionist, William Wilberforce. The house was built in 1656, and from the front garden, a striking mulberry tree hangs over the street, but despite its timeless appearance (a habit of mulberries), it was planted as recently as the 1950s.
