I first became aware of “the chalk pits of Dorking” via Dr Who, which frequently used them as a filming location. Then I discovered the Victorian era alt history The Battle of Dorking in which British army units attempted to halt an invasion (by the French?) there. And I believe HG Wells used it as well for one of his battles against the Martians.
‘Knopper gall’ is SO fun to say.
Funny, a bit rude and slightly Germanic. Ticks a lot of boxes!
Glad to hear you’re at the library in Dorking rather than the chalk pits!
The chalk pits??

I don't know if we have any of this magnificent species over here in the colonies!
It’s a species that thrives throughout the UK and Ireland, so it should do well in many other place I’m sure
