113. Red House Mulberry
Mulberries are ripening now, so here’s a tree on the outskirts of Birmingham to seek out.
The Red House is just that, a solid red brick Victorian house constructed in 1841. Next to it grows a lovely old mulberry gently collapsing behind protective railings. It is held together by an old iron brace, a device that fell out of use decades ago, so this and the particular stoutness of its trunk suggest it could well have been here before the house was built.

Noticed some ripe mulberries squished on the pavement at the end of my street - had never noticed that it was a mulberry tree before! The tree is in a garden so I'm hoping that the owner will be picking and enjoying them.
