199. People’s Birch
An elegant birch that stood out for me.
The most captivating tree in Limerick’s People’s Park is not one of the many giants that reside here, but rather a supremely elegant birch. Find the People’s Birch at the park’s western end: its gleaming white bark makes it unmissable and it is especially alluring in spring as the leaves unfurl, or in autumn as they turn gold. When I first saw this tree in 2022, there was a bench encircling it. When I visited in July this year, the bench had disappeared; I wonder why…
