I have seen this Quercus robur species and genus generally labeled as English Oak in the states with multiples in Fort Greene Park, Brooklyn, NY. I do like the name pedunculate oak.
It's called English oak in England too, but it's also very common in Wales, Ireland and Scotland too, so pedunculate oak feels like a better name in the context of Britain and Ireland. It's descriptive too...
