88. Castle Hill Cedar of Lebanon
Rising above Reading’s relentless traffic, a Cedar of Lebanon is a survivor from quieter times.
A landmark towering over one of Reading’s many busy roads, the Castle Hill Cedar of Lebanon is a friend to those travelling on the Bath Road. It is thought to have been growing in its Georgian courtyard since 1776, a date just about plausible. Regardless of its age, this tree is a delight, soaring over the handsome building which could have been designed specially to accommodate it.

It does look like someone had a vision of how it would complement the architecture. If so, that was some fine long-range thinking. Beautiful!
