If you in Leicester have a look at Pine way or Pine street, not sure which, they have huge pines as street trees, last time I was there the pavement was lifting cos of roots, the council may have removed them.
I think I know the street you mean Julie, it's Pine Tree Avenue, and they're not pines, they are giant redwoods!
