We have quite a few of those in Welwyn Garden City. They certainly are beautiful, and fecund!

I’m not surprised, they would have been a go to tree back in the early days of Welwyn’s development.

Yes, those trees are very pesky! Ada should have planted Melia azedarach, the graceful Chinaberry tree!

Back in those days Melia azedarach was considered too tender for planting in London. These days it’s another matter, and I know of a handful of thriving examples… perhaps one will turn up as a Wednesday Street Tree someday.
